Elisabeth Maxwell, PhD
Dr. Maxwell has a long history of sustained public service to our community. She worked for many years as a Social Worker in substance abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse. In 2006, she earned her Master’s in Public Health from Oregon State University (OSU) and in 2012 she earned her doctoral degree in Public Health, also from OSU. She taught undergraduate and graduate classes at OSU for several years after earning her degrees and then went on to work in Health Promotion at the University of Oregon.
In 2017, she started her career at Lane County Public Health in the Prevention section leading the substance abuse prevention work, focusing much of her efforts on overdose prevention. She has contributed to state-wide legislation to reduce opiate-related overdose fatalities. She has been recognized by the Lane County Board of Commissioners for her work in reducing overdose fatalities in our community. She is now the Prevention section Supervisor where she leads the Prevention team in broadening the reach and impact of our work to optimize health for all of our community members.
Outside of work, Elisabeth’s passions are her family, running, hiking, reading, crocheting, needle arts, and the great outdoors of the Pacific Northwest.
